Privacy Policy for Transaction Syncer for YNAB

1. Data Collection and Use

We collect and use the following data from the YNAB API to provide the core functionality of the application:

  • Budget names and account names
  • Account transaction history
  • Categories and category group data

This data is used solely to sync and display transaction data and to help users maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records within their YNAB budgets.

2. Data Handling and Storage

  • Access tokens obtained via OAuth are stored securely using encryption and never shared.
  • Transaction data retrieved from the YNAB API is processed temporarily and only stored when necessary to provide syncing and user feedback features.
  • All data in transit and at rest is encrypted using industry-standard methods (e.g., TLS, AES-256).
  • We do not request, handle, or store any financial account credentials (e.g., bank usernames or passwords).

3. Third-Party Access

  • No user data is shared or sold to third parties under any circumstance.
  • We do not transmit, forward, or otherwise disclose YNAB API data to any third-party service without the user's explicit consent.

4. User Control

  • Users may revoke access to their YNAB data at any time via the YNAB My Account settings.
  • You may delete all your stored data from our application at any time by contacting nicolas@marchildon.net or using in-app settings.

5. Security Measures

We implement strong security controls to protect user data, including:

  • OAuth 2.0-based authentication for secure access
  • Automatic deletion of inactive account data after one year of inactivity
  • Regular audits and reviews of data access logs
  • Isolation of user data from any administrative tools or analytics systems
